        "content": "<p>Ambon (ANTARA) - The Maluku Regional Police are collaborating with\nthe TNI and the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) to\nmonitor illegal mining activities at Gunung Botak in Buru Regency from\nthe air, ensuring that legal measures are implemented seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis inspection is important to observe the real conditions on the\nground, so that the handling steps taken can be on target. We are fully\nprepared to support law enforcement against illegal activities at the\nGunung Botak mining site,\u201d said the Head of the Maluku Regional Police\n(Kapolda), Inspector General of Police Dadang Hartanto, in Ambon on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The aerial inspection was carried out using a TNI AL CN-235 Maritime\nPatrol Aircraft (MPA) from Pattimura Airport in Ambon to directly\nobserve the conditions of illegal mining activities that have been a\nconcern for the central and regional governments.<\/p>\n<p>The activity was also attended by the Governor of Maluku along with\nForkopimda elements, including the Head of the High Prosecutor\u2019s Office,\nthe Maluku Defence Regional Commander, and TNI personnel in Maluku.<\/p>\n<p>From the aerial monitoring results, the team obtained a comprehensive\npicture of the distribution of illegal mining activities, geographical\nconditions, and potential environmental impacts in the Gunung Botak\narea.<\/p>\n<p>The Kapolda Maluku emphasised that this step serves as the basis for\nformulating more effective and measured handling strategies.<\/p>\n<p>He added that addressing illegal mining not only prioritises law\nenforcement aspects but also requires a comprehensive approach that\nincludes social, economic, and environmental aspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis activity is part of the strategic steps of the Satgas PKH in\nsupporting the enforcement of forest areas and law enforcement against\nillegal activities in Maluku,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He further added that this inspection is expected to strengthen\ninter-agency synergy in future enforcement operations, including\ndetermining technical steps on the ground such as integrated law\nenforcement, forest area supervision, and efforts to restore the\nenvironment impacted by illegal mining activities at Gunung Botak.<\/p>\n<p>Following the inspection, the group is scheduled to hold a limited\nmeeting at the Maluku Governor\u2019s Office to discuss follow-up steps for\nhandling the Gunung Botak area.<\/p>",
