        "content": "<p>Maluku gets aid for survey<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Maluku has completed a survey on infant<br>\nmortality in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted in 30 villages throughout Maluku, the survey<br>\nestimated an infant mortality rate of 53 deaths under 1 year of<br>\nage for every 1,000 live births.<\/p>\n<p>It found that 50 percent of deaths occurred in the first month<br>\nof life.<\/p>\n<p>\"The major causes of these infant deaths were acute<br>\nrespiratory infection, prematurity, birth defects, diarrhea and<br>\nneonatal tetanus,\" said the Australian Agency for International<br>\nDevelopment, which funded the study.<\/p>\n<p>The survey was conducted in January by the Maluku provincial<br>\nhealth office in cooperation with Project Concern International.<br>\n(pan)<\/p>",
