Java infants<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG, Central Java: A survey conducted by the provincial<br>\nhealth office here found 55 infants and toddlers in Central Java<br>\nsuffering from severe malnutrition.<\/p>\n<p>All aged under five years, the children live in 14 regencies<br>\nin the province.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Central Java health office Soejono Hardjosoedarmo<br>\nsaid the discovery was made during a province-wide survey<br>\nconducted by the office since October.<\/p>\n<p>Soejono said the children were given intensive treatment in<br>\nlocal hospitals and health centers. He was confident they would<br>\nrecover.<\/p>\n<p>\"The general public can help prevent the prevalence of such<br>\nconditions by monitoring their child's' diet and taking immediate<br>\naction when they find a child whose weight is less than 70<br>\npercent its normal weight,\" he added.
