Mall construction site shut down<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: The municipal public order agency has shut down the
\nconstruction site of the Metropolis shopping mall at the Modern
\nLand housing complex on Jl. Sudirman in Tangerang as the
\ndeveloper failed to obtain a building permit from the
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
\"They have been working on the site for a week, but the
\ndeveloper has not applied to the municipal capital Investment and
\nPermit Office (KPKPM) for a permit yet,\" Agus R. Wahyudi, the
\nagency's chief of the public order affairs department, said on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
However, a staff member of the developer, PT Modernland
\nRealty, claimed that the company had received verbal
\nauthorization from Tangerang Mayor M. Thamrin.<\/p>\n
The source, who asked not to be named, said that the five-
\nstory building with a total area of 46,000 square meters was
\nbeing funded by PT Lippo Karawaci.<\/p>\n
All of the construction work is being carried out by
\nModernland. However, Agus said that the agency would allow the
\ndeveloper to proceed with the construction if it produced a
\nbuilding permit issued by the administration.<\/p>\n
