        "content": "<p>Malili Customs seized 25,620 illegal cigarettes in a market operation\nconducted in various areas of Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, on 8-9 April\n2026. This action formed part of Operation Gempur Rokok Ilegal and was\ncarried out jointly with the Luwu Regency Civil Service Police Unit and\nthe TNI from Subdenpom XIV\/1-3 Palopo.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of Malili Customs Office, Eri Utomo Partoyo, stated that the\nmarket operation focused not only on enforcement but also on educating\nthe public. He emphasised the importance of active community involvement\nin preventing the circulation of illegal cigarettes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis operation is our step, together with law enforcement agencies,\nto fulfil our role as community protectors and to raise public awareness\nagainst buying or selling illegal cigarettes,\u201d said Eri.<\/p>\n<p>The joint team targeted several traditional markets, including Pasar\nSuli, Pasar Dadeko, Pasar Belopa, Pasar Cilallang, Pasar Lindajang, and\nPasar Bajo. The seizures were made following information from local\nmedia regarding suspected circulation of illegal cigarettes in the\narea.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to enforcement, officers provided outreach to traders and\nthe public on the characteristics of illegal cigarettes and their\nimpacts.
