        "content": "<p>Malaysian states face water crisis<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Two Malaysian states are likely to exhaust<br>\ntheir water resources by 2000 and shortages are expected to reach<br>\ncrisis point in 2010, a newspaper reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Sun also quoted Nature Society president Salleh Mohamad<br>\nNor as saying that Singapore, which depends on Malaysia for part<br>\nof its water needs, would have developed all available catchment<br>\nareas by the end of the century.<\/p>\n<p>Salleh said the two states affected were Selangor, which<br>\nincludes Kuala Lumpur and neighboring cities, and the adjacent<br>\nstate of Negri Sembilan.<\/p>\n<p>Plans to bring in water from the neighboring state of Pahang<br>\nmay not be easy due to its rapid industrialization and<br>\ndiminishing catchment areas, he said.<\/p>",
