Kalimantan: A Malaysian passenger ship will<br>\nsoon ply the Banjarmasin-Sampit (Central Kalimantan) route on the<br>\nBarito river, Antara reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>After a trial run of the ship Thursday, head of the province&apos;s<br>\nsea transportation office, Ardiansyah, said here that the<br>\nMalaysian ship would be managed by a local private company.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The company has already obtained a permit from the<br>\ndirectorate general of sea transportation to operate here,&quot; he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed hope that the ship would boost tourism in the<br>\narea.<\/p>\n<p>Ardiansyah said his office was willing to help travel bureaus<br>\nwith access to the ship, Sasaran Muhibah.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Central Kalimantan has never had a ship with adequate<br>\nfacilities to serve tourists,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Traveling on the ship, he added, it would only take five hours<br>\nfrom Banjarmasin to Sampit.<\/p>\n<p>The air-conditioned ship is able to carry 144 people.<\/p>",
