        "content": "<p>Malaysia warns foreign embassies<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): The Malaysian government, which last<br>\nmonth accused diplomats of funding opposition politicians in the<br>\nelections, warned all foreign missions on Tuesday to refrain from<br>\nsupporting local political parties.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are sending a note to all foreign missions in this country<br>\ninforming them that we take strong exception to foreign missions<br>\nproviding moral and financial support to local political parties<br>\nand NGOs associated with these parties,\" foreign minister Syed<br>\nHamid Albar told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Last month the government told envoys from Australia, Britain,<br>\nCanada and the United States not to interfere in its internal<br>\naffairs following allegations they had given money to opposition<br>\nparties ahead of last week's general election.<\/p>\n<p>The four embassies denied the allegations, and diplomats<br>\nprivately accused Malaysian government officials of trying to<br>\ngain political advantage by stirring up anti-foreign feelings.<br>\nCanada, however, said it had supported non-governmental<br>\norganizations (NGOs) involved in monitoring the Nov. 29 polls.<\/p>",
