        "content": "<p>Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The Malaysian government plans to provide\nfree artificial intelligence (AI) subscription access to young people\naged 18 to 30, in order to boost the country\u2019s AI development\ncapacity.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim made the announcement in his remarks at\nthe Malaysia AI Launch event in Selangor, Malaysia, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to ensure that this AI for the People programme, which is\nfree for those aged 18 to 30, opens on 31 August 2026, coinciding with\nMalaysia\u2019s Independence Day,\u201d Anwar Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the use of AI and public information campaigns on AI\nmust therefore be intensified as a priority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AI for the People approach must involve offering free access and\nsubscriptions to AI software to young people who complete the course\nmodules under the Digital People programme \u2014 this is a new\nannouncement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the 18 to 30 age group, the Digital Ministry will prepare the\ncourse modules. We are providing the AI software free of charge on the\ncondition that they follow the specified course modules,\u201d Anwar\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>The modules will cover AI safety, cybersecurity, agentic AI,\ngenerative AI, and cloud (digital storage) services for the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, young people who complete the relevant AI courses will receive a\nfree three-month subscription to leading AI applications. This is a\nstarting point to encourage them. But the condition is that they must\nfirst take the course, and of course pass it \u2014 and the course will be\neasy, because the government wants to encourage participation,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia is determined to become an AI-based nation. It has already\nestablished the National AI Office (NAIO) under the Digital Ministry,\ntasked with realising Malaysia\u2019s ambition of becoming an AI-driven\ncountry.<\/p>",
