        "content": "<p>Malaysia to boost film industry<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia is setting up 20-million-dollar<br>\nstate fund to help finance film and television ventures by native<br>\nMalays, Information Ministry Mohamed Rahmat said.<\/p>\n<p>Mohamed said his ministry was working with the treasury and<br>\nstate-owned Bank Pembangunan Malaysia to develop the fund,<br>\nBernama news agency reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The move was part of the government's efforts to help the<br>\nfledgling industry take off to exploit the rapidly expanding<br>\nentertainment market here, the minister said.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia is due to launch up to 20 channels of satellite<br>\ntelevision programming when Measat Broadcast Network Systems<br>\nbegins operations in the middle of this year.<\/p>\n<p>The country already has two state-owned stations, as well as<br>\nthe private Sistem Televisyen Malaysia, MetroVision and cable<br>\nprovider MegaTV.<\/p>",
