        "content": "<p>Malaysia defends control<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Malaysia's deputy trade minister said<br>\nforeign investors remain confident about the country's outlook<br>\ndespite criticism of government policies by the International<br>\nMonetary Fund and foreign media organizations, a report said<br>\nSunday.<\/p>\n<p>Kerk Choo Ting, deputy minister of international trade and<br>\nindustry, said Malaysia's ability to post a US$15 billion trade<br>\nsurplus last year and attract foreign investment over the past<br>\ntwo years amid a regional economic slump shows it is on the right<br>\ntrack, Bernama national news agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>\"Major investors like the United States, Japan, Taiwan, the<br>\nEuropean Union and Singapore continue to plow their money into<br>\nMalaysia,\" he was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Kerk dismissed attacks on Malaysia's use of currency controls<br>\nby the Washington-based IMF and unnamed commentators who<br>\nallegedly spoke out against the foreign exchange restrictions in<br>\nbroadcasts on CNN and CNBC, the report said.<\/p>",
