        "content": "<p>Malaysia Airports to woo airlines back<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia Airports Bhd said Thursday it has<br>\nlaunched a campaign to woo airlines to Kuala Lumpur International<br>\nAirport (KLIA) after four carriers suspended services.<\/p>\n<p>\"A high profile marketing and promotion campaign is in<br>\nprogress to recapture the market segment consisting of airlines<br>\nthat have suspended their services,\" said Azmi Murad, general<br>\nmanager for air traffic services.<\/p>\n<p>Since KLIA opened in June 1998, Aeroflot, British Airways,<br>\nQantas and Lufthansa have scrapped flights to it for commercial<br>\nreasons -- dealing a blow to efforts to promote the nine billion<br>\nringgit (2.4 billion dollar) airport as a regional hub.<\/p>\n<p>Japan's All Nippon Airways said Wednesday it would resume<br>\nflights to Malaysia this month, four months after halting them,<br>\nfollowing a personal plea from the government.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia Airports has waived parking and landing charges for<br>\nqualified passenger airlines which fly to KLIA for the first time<br>\nor start new flights.<\/p>\n<p>Azmi said some airlines have responded positively to its<br>\nincentive program.<\/p>\n<p>He said Air Lanka has agreed to increase its weekly flights on<br>\nthe Colombo-KL-Singapore-Colombo route to four from three from<br>\nSeptember 1.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar Airways would launch its inaugural flight on the Doha-<br>\nKuala Lumpur route in December on a thrice-weekly basis, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Azmi said Philippine Airlines and two European-based airlines<br>\nhad shown keen interest in starting flights or increasing<br>\nfrequencies.<\/p>",
