        "content": "<p>Malang Customs Office in Malang has again thwarted the circulation of\nillegal cigarettes in the Malang Raya area. In the operation conducted\non Sunday (10 May 2026), officers confiscated 9,230 packs, or 183,800\nillegal cigarettes of various brands, lacking excise stamps, and saved\npotential state losses of hundreds of millions of rupiah. The crackdown\nbegan from community information regarding suspected transport of\nTobacco Excise Goods (BKC HT) illegally using a silver minibus. In\nresponse, Malang Customs conducted ground patrols and monitoring along\nsuspected distribution routes. Based on analysis and field sweeps,\nofficers identified the target vehicle in Blimbing, Malang City. The\nteam gave chase and stopped the vehicle on Jalan Raya Karanglo,\nBanjararum, Singosari District, Malang Regency. After inspecting the\nvehicle and its cargo, officers found thousands of packs of illegal\ncigarettes of various brands, including Marbol and Manchester, without\nexcise stamps. All seized goods, along with the driver and the\ntransporting vehicle, were taken to the Malang Customs Office for\nfurther examination. From the action, the value of goods is estimated at\nRp 276,076,000. Meanwhile, the potential state losses saved are\nestimated at Rp 138,849,600. Head of Malang Customs Office, Johan\nPandores, emphasised that the agency will continue to strengthen\nmonitoring of illegal excise goods in its working area. \u201cMonitoring of\nillegal excise goods will continue intensively and on an ongoing basis,\u201d\nhe said in a statement on Wednesday (20 May 2026).
