A Makassar-based activist, Andi Angga Prasadewa, part of Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) representing Rumah Zakat, is reportedly among nine Indonesian nationals intercepted by Israeli forces during a humanitarian mission to Gaza. His mother Sutrawati Kaharuddin expresses concern as information about the abduction emerges, with the convoy travelling by sea from Marmaris, Turkey, as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla.

Makassar, VIVA – The family of Andi Angga Prasadewa, one of the
Indonesian victims abducted by Zionist Israeli soldiers, from Makassar,
South Sulawesi, are anxious about his condition after he was seized at
sea off the Mediterranean during a humanitarian mission to Palestine on
Monday, 18 May 2026.

“My son departed for Gaza by sea from Turkey, at Marmaris (Cruise
Port), there were 56 ships, that’s what I heard. On the journey, before
reaching 250 miles from the coast, he was captured by Zionist Israel,”
said the victim’s mother Sutrawati Kaharuddin, at her home on Jalan
Yusuf Daeng Ngawing, Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday.

Andi Angga Prasadewa was part of a Global Peace Convoy Indonesia
(GPCI) delegation representing Rumah Zakat taking part in the Global
Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission to Palestine. There were nine
Indonesian nationals including him who were intercepted by the Israeli
military in the local waters.

Sutrawati told reporters that information about her son’s abduction
only became known after she saw news reports and information from Rumah
Zakat that her son had been captured by the Israeli military while en
route to Gaza, Palestine on Monday, 18 May local time.

“Three o’clock yesterday he was still replying to my WhatsApp
messages. After that I replied, sis, I am very worried. Be careful
there. Lots of prayers, istighfar, whatever it may be, leave it to
Allah. Always seek guidance from Allah,” she said.

She also revealed that her eldest son suffers seasickness and could
not undertake the sea journey. Yet even though she had told him not to
join, he insisted on going for the humanitarian mission.

“That day he said, I am seasick, or something like that. Brother
(Angga) is seasick. In any case, always remember Allah. I just reminded
him to increase his istighfar,” she added, recounting their last
conversation.

Earlier she worried that her son would join the humanitarian mission
as a Rumah Zakat representative carrying medicines and aid to Gaza,
Palestine by sea. Before the kidnapping incident, she had contacted the
victim.

“But, because my son also always worries about me, he would gradually
decide to go if he didn’t want to commit immediately. Perhaps Rumah
Zakat had conveyed it, but because of a mother’s intuition, I have
always worried about my child.”
",
