Muhammadiyah\u2019s Central Leadership (PP) has issued a special warning\nto the public to exercise greater discipline in maintaining hygiene when\ninteracting with children during the Eid holiday.<\/p>\n
Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Chairman Agus Taufiqurrahman\nemphasised that simple actions such as hand-washing are a mandatory\nprocedure before touching or carrying infants.<\/p>\n
Agus explained that infants and toddlers have different biological\ncharacteristics from adults. Their still-developing immune systems mean\nthat exposure to even the smallest germs can have serious\nconsequences.<\/p>\n
\u201cChildren are not miniature adults. They are still in a developmental\nstage and are highly susceptible to various disease agents,\u201d Agus\nstated.<\/p>\n
According to him, hands of adults that appear clean are not\nnecessarily free from harmful microorganisms. Direct contact with\ngerm-contaminated hands can become a rapid transmission route for\ninfection.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we touch toddlers, we should be in a clean state. It is\ntherefore important to maintain hygiene, especially of the hands, before\ntouching a baby,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIf hands contain germs, there is concern that the baby\nwill be exposed, potentially resulting in disease and infection.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond the threat of bacterial or viral infection, hygiene factors\nare also closely linked to children\u2019s skin sensitivity.<\/p>\n
Agus reminded that residue from certain substances, such as food\nremnants, dust, or chemicals, which cling to adult hands can trigger\nallergic reactions on a baby\u2019s delicate skin.<\/p>\n
\u201cHands should not contain substances that are unsuitable for a\nchild\u2019s sensitive skin, as this could trigger an allergic reaction,\u201d he\nwarned.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, amid the bustle of family gatherings, parents are\nexpected to provide extra protection. In addition to ensuring that\nvisiting guests are in a clean state, parents are asked to pay attention\nto the clothing worn by children to match environmental conditions, to\nminimise exposure to pollutants or extreme weather.<\/p>\n
As a conclusion, Muhammadiyah appealed to guests and the extended\nfamily to develop self-awareness. Adults should refrain from touching or\ncarrying children if they feel their physical condition is below par or\nif they have not cleaned themselves after travel.<\/p>\n
