Maid sentenced to jail<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): An Indonesian housemaid who ran away with
\nher employer's 15-month-old son has been sentenced to two years
\nin jail, news reports said Saturday.<\/p>\n
Enny Susilawati, 48, pleaded guilty in a Kuala Lumpur court
\nFriday to abducting Mohamed Emir Mohmamed Ghazali from his
\nfamily's apartment on Oct. 18, The Star and New Straits Times
\ndailies reported.<\/p>\n
Enny, who worked as the family's maid for two months, was
\narrested by police who found her and the toddler after a four-day
\nsearch. She claimed she could no longer bear being mistreated by
\nthe family.<\/p>\n
Many middle-class families in Malaysian cities employ
\nhousemaids from Indonesia and the Philippines. Incidents of
\nforeign-maid abuse have drawn regular media attention in Malaysia
\nover the past year.<\/p>",
