Maid forced to eat dog droppings<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (AFP): A 15-year-old Indonesian maid was twice
\nforced by her employers, including a 13-year-old boy, to eat dog
\ndroppings for not cleaning up quickly after the dog, a newspaper
\nreported yesterday.<\/p>\n
The maid detailed the story Monday to a local court along with
\nother forms of abuse that her employers heaped on her since she
\nwent to work for them last year, the Straits Times said.<\/p>\n
One night in May, the employer's son \"told me to eat the dog
\n(droppings) and he gave me three minutes to eat it. He said that
\nif I did not, he would beat me,\" the maid, Hartati Ali Sodikun,
\ntold the court.<\/p>\n
The incident was repeated a few days after. When she emerged
\nfrom the toilet after washing her mouth, the son asked her: \"Was
\nit delicious?\", the report said.<\/p>\n
The maid said she slept on old newspapers in the kitchen floor
\nof the luxury apartment and that she was hardly fed. The mother
\nand son would whack her with tennis rackets when they found out
\nshe ate more bread than usual, the report added.<\/p>\n
The boy pleaded guilty last month in a juvenile court for
\nburning the maid with a hot iron, scalding her with boiling water
\nand punching her in the forehead, the report said.<\/p>",
