        "content": "<p>Mahathir to meet Malaysian king<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia's leader for 18<br>\nyears, was to meet the king on Wednesday in the first step toward<br>\nhis swearing-in as prime minister, election officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Mahathir was assured of a fifth consecutive term after his<br>\nNational Front coalition won Monday's parliamentary elections,<br>\nretaining its two-thirds majority with a campaign that focused on<br>\neconomic and civil stability.<\/p>\n<p>He proclaimed his triumph early on Tuesday to thousands of<br>\ncheering members of his United Malays National Organization<br>\nparty, the linchpin of the 14-component coalition.<\/p>\n<p>The 73-year-old leader was scheduled to meet with Sultan<br>\nSalahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah on Wednesday, the national Bernama<br>\nnews agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, the leader of the newly elected parliamentary<br>\nmajority informs the monarch of the victory and seeks assent to<br>\nform a government.<\/p>\n<p>The report did not specify when Mahathir's reinstatement<br>\nceremony would be held.
