        "content": "<p>Mahathir summons hangs in balance<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Prosecutors in the sodomy trial of<br>\nMalaysia's fired deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim said on Wednesday<br>\nthey would oppose defense attempts to call Prime Minister<br>\nMahathir Mohamad as a witness on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Arifin Jaka said he would rule Thursday on whether<br>\nMahathir must obey a subpoena but added: \"Please don't ask the PM<br>\nto come in the morning.\"<\/p>\n<p>If Mahathir does attend court it would be his first encounter<br>\nwith his jailed former heir-apparent since he fired Anwar 17<br>\nmonths ago, throwing Malaysian politics into turmoil.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mahathir's press secretary Zakaria Abdul Wahab said<br>\nthat if the court says the PM has to come, he will come. \"Nobody<br>\nis above the law,\" he said.<\/p>",
