Mahathir says S'pore acted badly<\/p>\n
MALAYSIA: Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday said
\nSingapore's public release of official correspondence over a
\nprotracted water dispute was not \"nice\" and showed a lack of
\nfaith by the island-state.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Singapore government released 19 letters the
\ntwo sides have exchanged over Malaysia's demand for higher prices
\nfor water it supplies to Singapore.<\/p>\n
The water issue has proven a sore point in diplomatic ties
\nbetween the two neighbors, who also are involved in a spat over
\ncompeting claims on the islet of Pulau Batu Puteh in the shipping
\nlanes of the Singapore Straits.<\/p>\n
Singapore Foreign Minister Shanmugam Jayakumar told Parliament
\non Saturday that the letters were released in response to
\nmisinformation spread by Malaysia about the water dispute.
\nMahathir said the release of the letters reflected badly on
\nSingapore's sincerity in resolving the dispute. --AP<\/p>",
