        "content": "<p>Mahathir says no to probe judge<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on<br>\nTuesday that a \"political agenda\" was behind efforts to topple<br>\nMalaysia's No. 1 judge over allegations he compromised his duties<br>\nwhile on holiday in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Mahathir, quoted by the national Bernama news agency, accused<br>\nthe country's top legal association of trying to pit the<br>\njudiciary against Malaysian political leaders.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Malaysian Bar Council scheduled an urgent<br>\nmeeting to be held later this month to debate whether Chief<br>\nJustice Eusoff Chin breached judicial ethics by spending time<br>\nwith a high-profile lawyer while on vacation in New Zealand in<br>\n1994.<\/p>\n<p>The association, which represents 9,000 lawyers, said it would<br>\nalso decide whether to ask the government to set up a commission<br>\nto probe Eusoff's conduct.<\/p>",
