        "content": "<p>m-lynx shifts commitments to Asian beach volleyball circuit<\/p>\n<p>Musthofid, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Sports event promoter m-lynx, which is tied to a four-year<br>\npromotion deal with the Indonesian Volleyball Association<br>\n(PBVSI), has fallen short of meeting its commitment in the<br>\nongoing national beach volleyball circuit.<\/p>\n<p>But m-lynx will make up for the lapse at the Asian beach<br>\nvolleyball circuit to follow in September.<\/p>\n<p>m-lynx, short for PT Media Lingkar Komunikasi, was supposed to<br>\nfind sponsors for the circuit, which is going to round off its<br>\nfinal of the three-series competition at the Bung Karno<br>\nVolleyball Hall here on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day tournament, which wrapped up its second and third<br>\nseries in Sidoarjo, East Java, and Yogyakarta respectively, is<br>\nfeaturing 27 men's and 15 women's teams, including four national<br>\npairs currently undergoing training for the 2002 Asian Games.<\/p>\n<p>\"I regret to say that m-lynx is unable to get sponsors for the<br>\nbeach volleyball event,\" Ndang Mawardi, m-lynx marketing<br>\ndirector, told reporters here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>PBVSI-m-lynx partnership deal was signed last year, with the<br>\nrecently concluded professional volleyball league being their<br>\nfirst event.<\/p>\n<p>While Proliga, as the professional league is locally known, is<br>\nconsidered to have gone through with a score of sponsors joining<br>\nthe three-month event, the beach volleyball circuit appears to be<br>\ndeprived of potential fund providers.<\/p>\n<p>Ndang said that they could secure only one sponsor. \"And it<br>\nwould not cover the cost, which can reach up to Rp 2 billion<br>\n(US$215,000),\" Ndang said.<\/p>\n<p>PBVSI chairwoman Rita Subowo said that they had had to finance<br>\nthe event themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\"But this has been no serious problem in the partnership as we<br>\nhave agreed that m-lynx will now cover the Asian circuit,\" Rita<br>\nsaid when contacted by The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n<p>The Asian circuit is scheduled to be held in Bali, tentatively<br>\nin September. The event will be a warmup for the Asian beach<br>\nvolleyballers prior to their competition at the Asian Games in<br>\nBusan, South Korea, the following month.<\/p>",
