        "content": "<p>Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar\nPandjaitan stated that reforms to the Directorate General of Customs and\nExcise (Ditjen Bea Cukai) are possible with the establishment of PT\nDanantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), which will oversee the export of\nnatural resource commodities. However, such reforms depend on the\nMinistry of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think, does Customs need reform? Why not? If it\u2019s not needed, why\nhave Customs at all, or if the duties are there but everything is AI\n(Artificial Intelligence),\u2019 Luhut said after attending a seminar at his\noffice in Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The statement refers to plans for a digital platform to tighten the\nmanagement of natural resource exports through DSI, with AI assisting in\nanalysis to prevent illegal practices.<\/p>\n<p>Luhut said digitalisation would integrate government data from\nvarious ministries and agencies to support accurate public policy\nformulation. He strongly supports AI implementation to eliminate\noutside-the-system manipulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When people meet with integrity pacts, none are actually followed,\nas far as I know \u2013 there are always issues,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>On natural resource exports, Luhut assured no more manipulations or\nthreats from irresponsible law enforcement officials. The digital system\nwould resemble the government\u2019s e-catalogue for procurement of goods and\nservices.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You won\u2019t be threatened by anyone. Whether military, police, or\nanyone else, none can influence this system,\u2019 he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Luhut mentioned communicating with Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Chief\nExecutive Officer of BPI Danantara (Investment Management Agency), to\npropose using the Mineral and Coal Information System (SIMBARA) across\nministries. Other natural resource commodities can also be monitored via\nthe system, requiring only additional data entries.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, President Prabowo Subianto announced the establishment of\na state-owned enterprise (BUMN) to manage exports of coal, palm oil, and\nferroalloy during a speech at the DPR RI building on 20 May 2026.
