        "content": "<p>Lufthansa seals PAL deal<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Lufthansa Technik AG, a subsidiary of the German<br>\nairline Lufthansa, has formally sealed its acquisition of the<br>\nengineering and maintenance unit of Philippine Airlines (PAL).<\/p>\n<p>It has also forged a pact to handle PAL&apos;s maintenance needs,<br>\nPAL said in a statement Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>PAL said Lufthansa Technik Philippines, a joint venture<br>\nbetween the German firm and local cargo-handler, MacroAsia Corp.,<br>\nhad signed the purchase and technical services agreement with<br>\nPAL.<\/p>\n<p>Under the accords, PAL will sell its maintenance and<br>\nengineering facilities in Manila and the central city of Cebu to<br>\nLufthansa Technik Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>The joint venture would act as exclusive provider of aircraft-<br>\nrelated technical services to PAL for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Lufthansa Technik Philippines would invest more than US$200<br>\nmillion in the country over the next five years, the statement<br>\nsaid.<\/p>",
