This
is evident from the efforts of several oil manufacturers to adapt their
products to match the characteristics of contemporary engines, which are
more efficient yet operate under high pressure.

This shift has drawn attention from PT Motul Indonesia Energy during
its participation in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026
at JIExpo Kemayoran. Through the exhibition, Motul showcased its
flagship car oil range, which now complies with the latest performance
standard, API SQ.

The API SQ standard is recognised as a new specification with more
stringent requirements than previous generations. It is designed to meet
the demands of modern engines, which require fuel efficiency, optimal
performance, and protection against issues such as Low Speed
Pre-Ignition (LSPI).

Managing Director of PT Motul Indonesia Energy, Welmart Purba, stated
that developments in engine technology necessitate adaptations in
lubricants. In his view, current vehicle engines have a different
operational profile compared to earlier generations.

“With the advancement of increasingly modern vehicle engine
technology, from the adoption of downsizing to the use of turbochargers,
today’s engines operate at higher pressures and efficiencies,” he said,
as quoted from an official statement on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

Welmart added that lubricants must deliver maximum protection while
aiding fuel efficiency. He explained that the API SQ standard addresses
these needs.

“API SQ provides the solution to these requirements, without
compromising the performance DNA that has always been Motul’s strength,”
he remarked.

Several of Motul’s car oil lines have been upgraded to the API SQ
standard, including Multigrade Plus, Multipower Plus, H-Tech 100 Plus,
NGEN Hybrid, and Motul 300V. These products offer a range of viscosity
options and are engineered for compatibility with the latest engine
technologies.

IIMS 2026 also served as an educational platform for visitors on the
importance of selecting lubricants that match vehicle specifications.
Many attendees showed keen interest in sessions explaining the
differences in oil standards and their impact on engine performance.
",
