        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is\nstrengthening measures to protect victims of alleged criminal acts of\nsexual violence (TPKS) at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur\u2019an Ndholo\nKusumo in Pati Regency, Central Java.<\/p>\n<p>This reinforcement is being carried out through direct outreach,\nassessments, and cross-institutional coordination.<\/p>\n<p>LPSK Deputy Chairman Wawan Fahrudin stated in Jakarta on Friday that\nproactive steps are being taken to ensure that victims and witnesses\nreceive legal protection and are encouraged to provide testimony in the\njudicial process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLPSK has proactively engaged in this TPKS case in Pati. We are ready\nto provide protection to witnesses and\/or victims so that they are bold\nin revealing the case. LPSK has also coordinated with relevant parties\nin processing applications to LPSK, including facilitating restitution,\u201d\nWawan said.<\/p>\n<p>The LPSK team conducted outreach on 6-7 May 2026, coordinating with\nPati Police Resort, the Integrated Service Unit for Women and Children\nProtection (UPTD PPA) in Pati Regency, the Ministry of Religious Affairs\nin Pati Regency, up to the Pati Regency Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU)\nand its autonomous bodies.<\/p>\n<p>In this process, LPSK also assessed victims and witnesses to ensure\nthe fulfilment of rights, including security protection, confidentiality\nof identity, legal assistance, psychological services, and restitution\nfor victims.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect in the case is AS (51), the founder of Pondok Pesantren\nNdholo Kusumo. Based on information gathered by LPSK, the suspect is\nalleged to have exploited power relations and religious pretexts to\nmanipulate victims and build compliance among the female students.<\/p>\n<p>Several victims reported being contacted via WhatsApp messages in the\nlate night to early morning hours to accompany or massage the suspect.\nVictims who refused were reportedly threatened with expulsion from the\npesantren or subjected to physical violence.<\/p>\n<p>According to the victims\u2019 legal representatives, the number of\nvictims is estimated at 30 to 50 female students, most of whom are\nminors and SMP students. However, to date, only some victims have\nprovided official statements to law enforcement authorities.<\/p>\n<p>LPSK also found indications of intimidation, threats of\ncounter-claims, and invitations to settle out of court against victims\nand witnesses, which are seen as potentially obstructing the legal\nprocess.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, LPSK obtained information regarding alleged payments of\nmoney to the victims\u2019 companions to halt the case. This situation is\nsaid to affect the victims\u2019 courage in continuing the legal process.<\/p>\n<p>Based on coordination with the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Pati\nRegency, the pesantren\u2019s operational permit has been revoked since 5 May\n2026, and the students have been facilitated to transfer to other\nschools or pesantrens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext, LPSK together with relevant agencies will conduct assessments\nand strengthening for the students so that they are brave to become\nwitnesses or report the criminal acts they have experienced,\u201d Wawan\nsaid.<\/p>",
