All Muslims should be aware that their beliefs have consequences.
\nThey must be ready to be tested by Allah, including how to handle
\npressure, such as the pressure that recently came from
\nSingaporean statesman Lee Kuan Yew.<\/p>\n
Without offering any evidence, he said a 100 radical Muslim
\ngroups in Indonesia were trying to establish Islamic states in
\nIndonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and who knows,
\nSingapore as well.<\/p>\n
In his opinion, an Islamic government or an Islamic society
\nwould mean disaster for his country, which is 100 percent
\nsecular. Lee does not realize that his own viewpoint is extreme,
\nas reflected in his actions to crush democratic efforts to
\nprotect human rights.<\/p>\n
Lee sees proselytizing as a radical move to topple the
\ngovernments of Singapore and other countries. For someone like
\nhim, a country that maintains stability with an iron fist -- like
\nSingapore -- is better than a country full of dynamism that wants
\nto implement democracy in the correct way.<\/p>\n
Lee's accusations show how much he fears Islam, making him
\nparanoid about the 100 "radical groups" in Indonesia.
\nIt is understandable for Singapore to feel like Israel, being
\nsurrounded by Islamic countries. Lee is only one of many parties
\nsuffering from such paranoia. Even in this country, there are
\nparanoid parties who are building an anti-Islam "axis". --
