Lonsum gets $213m loan<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed PT Pan London Sumatra Plantation
\n(Pan Lonsum) has secured a $213 million syndicated loan from 29
\nbanks from 10 countries.<\/p>\n
The company said yesterday the loan agreement was signed in
\nPhuket, Thailand on Sept. 12.<\/p>\n
The loan will be used to finance the development of 67,000
\nhectares of palm oil estates in South Sumatra, Central Kalimantan
\nand East Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
The loan, arranged by HSBC Investment Bank Plc of Singapore,
\ninvolved five local banks, including Bank Tabungan Negara and
\nBank Pembangunan Indonesia and 24 foreign banks, including
\nJapan's The Sumitomo Bank Ltd Singapore Branch and Bank of
\nTaiwan.<\/p>\n
The company, which is listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange,
\ndevelops plantations, processing and exports palm oil, rubber,
\ncocoa, tea and coffee.<\/p>\n
The company's president Ibrahim Risjad said it planned to
\nexpand its plantations to 220,000 hectares, spread over North
\nSumatra, South Sumatra, West Java, East Java, Central Kalimantan,
\nEast Kalimantan and South Sulawesi. (08)<\/p>",
