Longing for a change<\/p>\n

In anticipation of the 1998 general session of the People's
\nConsultative Assembly, I tried to monitor the people's opinions.
\nThe result was quite interesting, most of the community aspired
\nfor a change in various sectors.<\/p>\n
* The people (including civil servants, members of the Armed
\nForces, pensioners, blue-collar workers) hope that they can earn
\nenough money to make ends meet, that prices are stable and that
\nhealth care and education are within reach of the people.<\/p>\n
* Every citizen wants the freedom of practicing their
\nparticular religion and there should be no question of majority
\nand minority with regard to religion.<\/p>\n
* The law must be upheld. The police, prosecutors, and judges
\nshould act objectively and only speak the truth.<\/p>\n
* Conglomerates should have nationalistic concepts and not
\nexploit the people for their own benefit.<\/p>\n
* Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution should be genuinely and
\nconsequently implemented. Political maneuver to benefit only one
\nparticular ruling group should be avoided. The House of
\nRepresentatives should truly represent the interest of the
\npeople. The Armed Forces should be neutral and stick to the
\ninterest of the whole nation, and have the courage to criticize
\nwhoever has done wrong disregarding position, rank and status.<\/p>\n
