Long-term antigraft movement needed<\/p>\n

The eradication of corruption is not easy, takes a long time
\nand demands continuous effort. Patience and consistency are
\ntherefore required in this antigraft undertaking.<\/p>\n
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should avoid any half-
\nhearted operations because some state agencies where corruption
\nis well known have remained untouched. Major sources of
\ncorruption are the directorate generals of taxation, of customs
\nand excise, and the National Police.<\/p>\n
The President should also conduct this movement without
\ndiscrimination to create clean and transparent public
\nadministration. His comprehensive perception of corruption should
\nnot be hampered by considerations of political risks.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the public should not pin too high hopes on short-
\nterm corruption elimination. In this context, the government
\nneeds to consistently and realistically carry out long-term and
\nsustainable antigraft campaigns.<\/p>\n
No less important are corruption prevention and system
\nimprovements. A broad-spectrum bureaucratic reform is needed,
\ninvolving not only personnel replacement but also system renewal,
\nwhile making the movement a common one with popular support.<\/p>\n
