        "content": "<p>Bekasi \u2014 Several rubbish truck drivers employed by the Jakarta\nEnvironmental Services Agency (Dinas Lingkungan Hidup, DLH) have lodged\ncomplaints about lengthy queues when attempting to dump their loads at\nthe Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) in Bekasi\nCity.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of these conditions, the drivers report having to work\nfar beyond their scheduled hours whilst waiting in queues that can\nstretch for many hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI queued for over 20 hours. Some waited 27 hours. Yesterday I queued\nfrom midnight, but only got weighed at 2 p.m. Then I left at 10 p.m.,\u201d\nsaid Adi, a 38-year-old rubbish truck driver from East Jakarta, speaking\nto Kompas.com on Thursday (12 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>He stated that following a recent incident, the dumping site was\nrestricted to a single access point, causing vehicle queues to become\nsignificantly longer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were all in a panic because the queues became so long. Three\naccess points could mean 12-hour waits, let alone just one,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the limited access points, Adi also complained about the\ndeteriorated road conditions leading to the Bantargebang facility, which\nexacerbate congestion.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that although drivers work under a shift system, they\nnevertheless face protracted queues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven with shifts, we still have to queue for hours,\u201d Adi\nremarked.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, these conditions have made drivers\u2019 work schedules\nunpredictable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, the first shift starts at midnight, and we should be\nloading again by morning. But now we\u2019re still waiting with the rubbish,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that not all drivers have access to secure parking whilst\nwaiting in queues.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, many trucks are forced to park at the roadside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is also unsafe and becomes the responsibility of our\ncolleagues,\u201d he noted.<\/p>",
