Lombok to host half-marathon<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The inaugural Lombok half-marathon will take place in
\nMataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on July 13, with prizes of Rp 50
\nmillion (US$6,000).<\/p>\n
The 21.1-kilometer run, which will be the closing event of the
\nweek-long Senggigi Festival, will start at 6 p.m. at the
\ngovernor's residence in Mataram and finish at the Holiday Inn
\nResort in Mangsit.<\/p>\n
Event coordinator Heiner Werdeling said it was hoped the run
\nwould become a popular annual draw for endurance runners from
\nthroughout Asia, Australia and the world.<\/p>\n
"Tourism in Lombok has suffered extremely since the Bali
\nbombings and the SARS fears, and we are hoping this event will
\nhelp boost Lombok's currently poor visitor numbers," he said in a

\nIndonesian and defending champion Septi Mende 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 in
\nthe final at the Hilton Executive Tennis Courts.<\/p>\n
Septi overcame her loss in the singles event to win the girls'
\ndoubles title with Sandy Gumulya. They defeated Maya\/Ayu Fani
\nDamayanti 6-4, 6-3 in the final.<\/p>\n
The boys' singles and doubles finals will be played on Sunday,
