        "content": "<p>Locals don't want to be railroaded<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Residents of Lorong W Barat in Tanjung Priok refused<br>\nto vacate their homes in the area, to make way for the North<br>\nJakarta administration's project to reconstruct a railroad<br>\nconnecting Pasoso station and the Jakarta International Container<br>\nTerminal in Koja.<\/p>\n<p>\"We're not squatters. We've lived here for over 20 years now<br>\nand we have legal documents and identity cards. We don't believe<br>\nthe railroad project is a good enough reason to evict us,\" a<br>\nresident, Sujono, said, as reported by Tempointeraktif news<br>\nportal on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The residents said the railroad project had been stalled since<br>\n1993.<\/p>\n<p>The rail track has been buried underneath Jl. Sulawesi and a<br>\nconcrete building near Tanjung Priok port.<\/p>\n<p>The administration promised compensation money of Rp 500,000<br>\n(some US$56) to residents who dismantle their houses themselves.<br>\n-- JP<\/p>",
