US President Donald Trump has repeatedly made statements regarding\nthe closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the conflict with Iran. Trump\u2019s\nstatements have frequently changed.<\/p>\n
As is known, the US and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February 2026. As\na result, Iran tightened the route in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump has made several\nstatements. Trump initially requested assistance from NATO countries.\nHowever, these statements changed again. Trump delivered these\nstatements via his Truth Social account.<\/p>\n
14 March: Requests NATO Assistance<\/p>\n
When Hormuz was closed, Trump said many countries were affected. He\nhoped for assistance from NATO countries to help reopen the route.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany countries, especially those affected by Iran\u2019s efforts to close\nthe Strait of Hormuz, will send warships, along with the United States,\nto keep the strait open and safe,\u201d Trump said on 14 March.<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and other\ncountries affected by this man-made restriction will send ships to the\narea so that the Strait of Hormuz is no longer a threat to countries\nthat have been truly paralysed,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
16 March: Does Not Need Assistance<\/p>\n
However, many countries rejected Trump\u2019s request. Trump then claimed\nhe did not need help from others.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t need assistance. The war has been going on for a long time\nin my opinion, almost from the first day,\u201d he said on 16 March.<\/p>\n
20 March: Mocks NATO<\/p>\n
Trump then mocked NATO. Trump called NATO a paper tiger.<\/p>\n
\u201cWITHOUT THE US, NATO IS JUST A PAPER TIGER!\u201d Trump wrote on 20\nMarch.<\/p>\n
On the same day, Trump mocked NATO again. He called NATO cowards.<\/p>\n

26 March: Will Not Support Allies<\/p>\n
Trump was angry again with the attitude of allied countries. He\nclaimed he would not help them anymore.<\/p>\n

31 March: Blames Other Countries, Ready to End the War<\/p>\n
On 31 March, Trump once again mocked other countries. He asked other\ncountries to open the Strait of Hormuz themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll countries that cannot get jet fuel because of the Strait of\nHormuz\u2026 I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the US, we have\nplenty, and Number 2, gather your long-overdue courage, go to that\nStrait, and take it\u2026\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the same day, Trump said he would end the war. He estimated that\nthe war would end in two weeks. Even without an agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are finishing this job, and I think maybe in two weeks, maybe a\nfew days longer, to finish this job,\u201d Trump stated.<\/p>\n
1 April: Will Attack Iran to Bring It Back to the Stone Age<\/p>\n
However, Trump again said he would attack Iran. Trump said this would\nbring Iran back to the Stone Age.<\/p>\n
