Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa held a meeting with a group of\ninvestors in the United States (US) yesterday, Monday (13\/4\/2026). The\ngroup of investors included HSBC Global Asset Management, Lazard AM,\nBlackrock, Lord Abbett, and TD Asset Management.<\/p>\n
In the meeting, Purbaya explained Indonesia\u2019s macroeconomic\nfundamentals and fiscal strategies to several major US investors. This\nwas aimed at convincing investors to enter the country. According to\nPurbaya, the investors indeed intend to invest capital in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically, we explained the economic conditions and our future\nfiscal strategies, so they are convinced that our fiscal movements or\npolicies are in the right direction,\u201d Purbaya said at the Peninsula\nHotel in New York on Monday (13\/4).<\/p>\n
\u201cThey intend to invest in Indonesia. So, some explanations were given\nto them to ensure that their doubts about Indonesia can be cleared,\u201d\nPurbaya added.<\/p>\n
Purbaya explained that US investors have no doubts about the designed\nmacroeconomic fundamental policies, but they want to confirm the current\nconditions regarding investment comfort.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo they (the investors) are not doubtful, but they heard some noise\nthat our fiscal is problematic, they confirmed that it is not true,\u201d\nPurbaya said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe explained what our fundamental policies are like and because they\nare smart people, they can fully accept what we explained as in line\nwith economic theories,\u201d Purbaya added.<\/p>\n
Purbaya also received positive input that the Indonesian government\nshould improve communication with US investors, given that Indonesia\u2019s\nmacroeconomic foundation is considered very good.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding fiscal policy, they are already convinced that the\ndirection of the policy is correct; they think that some international\nrating agencies were too quick to make changes to Indonesia\u2019s rating,\nsuch as giving a negative outlook, where the change was made when the\nlatest economic data was not yet complete,\u201d Purbaya added.<\/p>\n
When asked about the strategy to make investors confident in\ninvesting in Indonesia, Purbaya explained that the economy must continue\nto grow in line with the targets in the state budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to ensure that the economy grows according to the\ntargets we mentioned. If Indonesia can grow 5.5 percent in the first\nquarter and remains strong in the second quarter, this will immediately\nmake them more confident to increase their investments in Indonesia,\u201d\nPurbaya said.<\/p>\n
