The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has ensured that\nelectricity tariffs for PT PLN (Persero) will not increase in August\n2026. At least, the electricity tariffs applicable this month still\nrefer to the government policy for the July-September 2026 period.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia,\nstated that the government decided to maintain electricity tariffs to\npreserve public purchasing power and support national economic stability\namidst global economic dynamics.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn order to maintain public purchasing power and support national\neconomic stability, the government has decided that electricity tariffs\nfor the third quarter of 2026 will remain the same and will not\nincrease,\u201d Bahlil explained in an official statement recently, as\nreported on Monday (31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
In accordance with the Minister of ESDM Regulation Number 7 of 2024,\ntariff adjustments for 13 non-subsidised customer groups are actually\nconducted every three months based on changes in four macroeconomic\nparameters: the Rupiah exchange rate, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP),\ninflation, and the Reference Coal Price (HBA).<\/p>\n
For the third quarter of 2026, the parameters used are the realised\nfigures from the February-April 2026 period, which recorded an exchange\nrate of Rp16,959.32 per US$, an ICP of US$96.12 per barrel, inflation of\n0.21%, and an HBA of US$70 per tonne (in accordance with the coal\nDomestic Market Obligation\/DMO policy).<\/p>\n
Although there was potential for tariff changes based on the formula,\nthe government decided to maintain the electricity tariffs to safeguard\nnational economic stability.<\/p>\n
Bahlil added that, in addition to non-subsidised customers, this\npolicy also applies to 24 groups of subsidised customers who are also\nconfirmed to experience no change in electricity tariffs, such as social\ncustomers, poor households, small businesses, small industries, and\nMicro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and\nequitable electricity. This fixed tariff policy is part of the effort to\nmaintain economic stability while ensuring that electricity services\nremain sustainable,\u201d said BHL.<\/p>\n
Below is the list of electricity tariffs for 13 non-subsidised\ncustomers during the third quarter of 2026:<\/p>\n
