LG expands TV production<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT LG Electronics Indonesia president In Ki Kim
\nsaid on Monday that his company invested US$4 million this year
\nto expand its television set and refrigerator production
\ncapacity.<\/p>\n
Kim said the additional investment is part of a program to
\nmaintain the company's position in the domestic market and to
\nexpand its exports.<\/p>\n
\"LG Electronics Indonesia, which operates two plants in the
\ncountry, are a major exporting subsidiary of LG Electronics,\" he
\nsaid in the launching of the Flatron TV and Monitor Full Line-Up.<\/p>\n
The two factories, he added, could contribute at least $600
\nmillion in export earnings next year.<\/p>\n
\"We also emphasize environmental management and have invested
\n$1 million in obtaining the ISO 14001 environmental management
\ncertificate next year,\" he said.<\/p>\n
PT LG Electronics Indonesia is wholly owned by LG Electronics
\nof South Korea after its Indonesian partner, Astra International,
\nrecently sold its stakes in the company.<\/p>\n
\"The new Flatron TV is the first truly flat TV,\" Sung Khiun,
\nthe company's marketing manager said, adding the company expects
\ntotal sales to amount to 20,000 next year.(06)<\/p>",
