        "content": "<p>Let's not forget<br>\nWR Soepratman<\/p>\n<p>From Kompas<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 17 each year, the nation celebrates Independence Day <br>\nand the red-and-white flag is hoisted to the accompaniment of the <br>\nnational anthem, Indonesia Raya.<\/p>\n<p>In relation to the city administration's plan to erect statues <br>\nin Jakarta, I suggest that the composer of the above anthem, Wage <br>\nRudolf Soepratman, should also be honored and immortalized in the <br>\nform of a statue.<\/p>\n<p>According to information I have read, WR Soepratman was born <br>\nin Jatinegara, Jakarta, on Aug. 17, 1903 and Indonesia Raya was <br>\nfirst sung during the Kongres Pemuda (Youth Congress) in Jakarta <br>\nin 1928.<\/p>\n<p>WR Soepratman was a teacher and a reporter, the chief editor <br>\nof Kaoem Kita (Our Folks), worked for the daily Kaoem Moeda <br>\n(Young Folks) and also for Alpena news agency together with Bp <br>\nParada Harahap.
