Lesson from Lopa for the elite<\/p>\n

We were all shocked by Baharuddin Lopa's untimely death in the
\nmiddle of his attempts to bring to trial corruptors (some
\npretending to be reformists and often quoting the Prophet's
\nsayings) rampant in the legislature, executive body, judiciary as
\nwell as business tycoons who had collaborated with corrupt
\npoliticians.<\/p>\n
The presence of a "sponsor" was even suspected behind Lopa's
\nwell-meaning actions. Firm in his determination to uphold truth
\nand justice, he boldly stated: "Even if the sky were to fall,
\njustice must be upheld".<\/p>\n
It is indeed sad that the Almighty has summoned a man of such
\nintegrity and honesty just when the nation needed someone like
\nhim.<\/p>\n
Is this a curse on the nation brought about by the presence of
\nso many corruptors and bootlickers who pretend to understand the
\npeople's suffering.<\/p>\n
The elite in the legislature, executive body and judiciary who
\nare simply sloganeers have a lot to learn from Lopa about
\nhonesty, simplicity, hard work and dedication to the people.<\/p>\n
