        "content": "<p>Leighton wins contract<\/p>\n<p>SYDNEY (Reuter): Construction firm Leighton Holdings Ltd said<br>\nyesterday its Indonesian subsidiary PT Theiss Contractors<br>\nIndonesia in a joint venture with Kopnatel has been awarded an<br>\nA$200 million telecommunications contract.<\/p>\n<p>PT Thiess has a 45 percent interest in the joint venture.<\/p>\n<p>Leighton said the contract, awarded by PT Mitra Global<br>\nTelekomunikasi Indonesia, was the largest single contract of the<br>\nA$925 million project for the implementation of a<br>\ntelecommunications network into Central Java by March 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Australia's Telstra has a 20 percent in PT Mitra.<\/p>\n<p>The contract requires the installation of more than 300,000<br>\ncustomer access telephone lines with work expected to be<br>\ncompleted by December 1998. Leighton shares closed three cents<br>\nlower at A$5.33 on turnover of 228,382 shares.<\/p>",
