        "content": "<p>Legislators to visit Portugal<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The House of Representatives (DPR) will send a<br>\ndelegation to Portugal for the first time after East Timor&apos;s<br>\nbreakaway from Indonesia in 1999, reports say.<\/p>\n<p>The visit is aimed at boosting ties between the two countries,<br>\nHouse Speaker Akbar Tandjung said at the DPR on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We consider the visit to Portugal very important and<br>\ntherefore I myself will lead the delegation,&quot; Akbar, who will<br>\ncelebrate his 56th birthday on Tuesday, said as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>There is no definite date on the visit to Portugal, but Akbar<br>\nsaid that it will be soon.<\/p>\n<p>Akbar said that House leaders had also decided that<br>\nlegislators would attend several international events, such as<br>\nthe International Parliament Organization (IPO) in Bangkok on<br>\nSept. 2 through Sept. 7, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>The DPR will also send a delegation to the International<br>\nParliament Union (IPU) meeting in Burkinapase in Africa as well<br>\nas a parliamentary meeting of countries in the Organization of<br>\nIslamic Conference (OKI) in Morocco as well as a working visit to<br>\nNorth Korea.<\/p>",
