Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the DKI\nJakarta DPRD, Setyoko, stated that the commemoration of International\nLabour Day (May Day) 2026 in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Friday\n(1\/5), serves as a symbol of closeness between the government and\nworkers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe commemoration of International Labour Day (May Day) 2026 in the\nMonas area, Jakarta, becomes an important momentum for the major\nconsolidation of the working class in Indonesia,\u201d said Setyoko in\nJakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He also assessed that the presence of President Prabowo Subianto\namong hundreds of thousands of workers at that time serves as a strong\nsymbol of the government\u2019s support for workers.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s May Day commemoration, he said, presents a different\natmosphere; workers are no longer facing off against authorities in\nconveying their aspirations, but instead engaging in direct dialogue\nwith the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe President is present, listening, and even responding to the\ndemands conveyed by the workers,\u201d stated Setyoko.<\/p>\n
According to him, Prabowo\u2019s leadership has opened up new space for\nthe unity of workers on the same stage with the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrabowo, the real president of the workers,\u201d concluded Setyoko.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he stated that the May Day 2026 momentum shows that all\nelements of workers can unite in a more conducive atmosphere.<\/p>\n
In fact, Setyoko assessed that Indonesia is now one of the few\ncountries that celebrates Labour Day together with the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrabowo is one of three presidents who celebrate International\nLabour Day. First Venezuela, second Bolivia, third Indonesia, which\ncelebrates Labour Day with workers,\u201d said Setyoko.<\/p>\n
He added that the presence of President Prabowo at the Labour Day\ncommemoration is not merely a symbol, but also a form of the\ngovernment\u2019s real commitment to workers\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n
Several policies are considered pro-worker, ranging from the\nenactment of the Domestic Workers (PRT) Law, the provision of holiday\nbonuses for online motorcycle taxi drivers, to protection for workers in\nthe fisheries sector.<\/p>\n
The enactment of the PRT Law, the provision of holiday bonuses for\nonline motorcycle taxi drivers, and protection for fishery vessel crew\nare outlined in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 25 of 2026 on\nthe Ratification of International Labour Organization Convention Number\n188 to ensure protection and welfare for fishery vessel crew and\nothers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is proof that the government is working to prosper workers so\nthat Indonesia advances,\u201d emphasised Setyoko.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, he reminded that workers are still awaiting the\nrealisation of several policies, particularly regarding platform fee\ncuts for online motorcycle taxi drivers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is awaited is the realisation of Perpres Number 27 of 2026, a\ncut below 10 percent from the platform for online motorcycle taxi\ncolleagues,\u201d revealed Setyoko.<\/p>\n
Finally, he invited all elements of society to maintain unity as the\nfoundation of national development.<\/p>\n
