Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives\n(DPR RI) from the NasDem Party faction, Cindy Monica, has expressed\nappreciation for the environmental awareness and forest and land fire\n(karhutla) prevention movement integrated into the Riau Bhayangkara Run\n2026. She hopes the activity will have a positive impact on increasing\npublic concern for the environment.<\/p>\n
Cindy Monica attended the Road to Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 event in\nPekanbaru on Sunday, 21 June 2026. She assessed that this sporting event\nis not merely an ordinary running competition, but a positive social\nmovement that brings great benefit to the people of Bumi Lancang\nKuning.<\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the activity, Cindy Monica revealed that she\nconsistently monitors strategic work programmes initiated by the Riau\nPolice Chief and his main leadership ranks. According to her, the Riau\nRegional Police under the leadership of Inspector General Herry Heryawan\nand Deputy Chief Brigadier General Hengky Haryadi have demonstrated\nextraordinary commitment. The police institution in Riau has proven to\nnot only focus on law enforcement and public order functions, but also\npays great attention to ecological issues, particularly the handling of\nforest and land fires.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe highest appreciation goes to the Riau Regional Police,\nespecially to the Police Chief and Deputy Chief and all ranks. Cindy Monica\u2019s full support was not without reason. She shared her\nemotional experience from the past when her family became direct victims\nof the thick haze caused by forest fires in Riau. \u201cPersonally, I have\nexperienced the direct impact of these forest and land fires. At that\ntime, my family, including my younger sibling, had to stay indoors for\nmore than a month due to the unhealthy air conditions. Teaching and\nlearning activities were also disrupted because of the haze,\u201d she\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The impact of the haze crippled the education sector, where school\nteaching and learning activities were disrupted and forced to\ntemporarily stop for safety reasons. Therefore, she believes that this\nactivity organised by the Riau Regional Police serves as a positive\neducational tool. \u201cThat is why I truly understand the importance of\ncollaborative efforts to prevent and handle forest and land fires.\nActivities like the Road to Bhayangkara Run serve as an excellent\neducational tool to build collective public awareness,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The Riau Regional Police will hold the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 on\n19 July 2026. This event, which marks the 80th National Police Day (Hari\nBhayangkara), will be attended directly by National Police Chief General\nListyo Sigit Prabowo, who will flag off the race. The event, the largest\nof its kind in Sumatra, will be participated in by 15,000 runners,\nincluding international participants.
