Mr. Marsilam Simanjuntak, one of President Abdurrahman \"Gus
\nDur\" Wahid's close allies has been promoted to Attorney General.
\nIn the meantime, investigations into the cases of people
\nsuspected of involvement in corruption, including Arifin
\nPanigoro, have been underway.<\/p>\n
Since the supremacy of the law and human rights is the mandate
\nof the people, as stipulated in the People's Consultative
\nAssembly (MPR), it is hoped that any investigation into cases of
\ncorruption must be conducted in a transparent manner pursuant to
\nthe prevailing laws and regulations and must not be affected by
\ncertain strong business people. Justice must be upheld.<\/p>\n
Therefore if, after investigation and preliminary examination,
\nthere is a strong indication that Arifin Panigoro and Akbar
\nTanjung are implicated in corruption cases, they must immediately
\nbe brought to court. But, on the other hand, if in the
\ninvestigation they are proved to be clear of corruption, the
\nresults should be declared in public, as everyone deserves
\nrespect and just treatment.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, Mr. Soeparman will be firm and steadfast in his
\nefforts to uphold the truth and enforce the law.<\/p>\n
