Lee ends Indonesian tour<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
\ncompleted his three-day trip here after meeting People's
\nConsultative Assembly (MPR) speaker Amien Rais on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Lee and his delegates held a closed-door meeting with Amien,
\nwho was accompanied by deputy Assembly speakers Sutjipto of the
\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Ginandjar
\nKartasasmita of the Golkar Party, Husni Thamrin of the United
\nDevelopment Party (PPP) and Oesman Sapta of the Regional
\nRepresentatives Council.<\/p>\n
In their joint media conference afterwards, Lee and Amien said
\nthey had discussed election preparations here as well as several
\nbilateral issues.<\/p>\n
According to Amien, Lee expressed hope that the elections
\nwould pass peacefully. \"Whatever happens in the elections, it
\nwill affect neighboring countries,\" said Amien, who is set to be
\nthe presidential candidate from the National Mandate Party (PAN).<\/p>\n
Lee also met President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Vice
\nPresident Hamzah Haz, chairpersons of PDI-P and PPP respectively.
