Several areas in Lebak Regency are experiencing drought conditions,\nwhich have led to a reduction in the availability of clean water\nsupplies. Consequently, the Lebak Regency Government has declared a\ndrought emergency alert status.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Lebak Regency Government has established a drought emergency\nalert status for two weeks. We will extend this for the next two weeks\nas the situation continues to escalate,\u201d said the Secretary of the Lebak\nRegional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Feby Rizki Pratama, on\nFriday (31\/07\/2027).<\/p>\n
Feby noted that the drought in the Lebak region is expanding. It is\nrecorded that 18 villages across seven districts are experiencing severe\ndrought and are in urgent need of clean water.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have carried out clean water distribution to several districts;\nthere are seven districts where we have intervened, covering 18 villages\nand serving 4,000 households,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Feby admitted to facing difficulties in distributing the clean water\nsupply to affected residents, primarily due to a lack of vehicles within\nthe BPBD.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are indeed delays, particularly regarding vehicle availability\nand distance, as we only have two tankers available to serve the area,\nwhereas distances within Lebak Regency are quite far apart. However, it\nis clear that every request will be served, even if not immediately,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far, we have distributed 1,350 litres of clean water,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Feby stated that the dry season is predicted to last until September.\nHe urged the public to remain vigilant against potential hazards during\nthe dry season, such as fires and health risks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout July, there were approximately 35 fire incidents. In\nterms of health, the dust levels during the dry season can be extreme,\nleading to respiratory infections (ISPA) which we are trying to avoid.\nAdditionally, those who use rivers for bathing and washing must be\ncautious as the river water becomes unclean.
