It's unfortunate that many trees growing in Bandung city, West
\nJava, in the 1960s and 1970s have vanished. And at the same time
\nmany bird species are no longer seen. These birds used to be
\nheard chirping in the shady trees and added to the attractiveness
\nof the city.<\/p>\n
Now the local government is carrying out a regreening program
\nand planting new trees. The result has been noticeable. Bandung
\nbegins to look greener day by day. Birds have returned to the
\ncity.<\/p>\n
But the birds cannot live in peace as amateur hunters are
\nmoving around shooting the birds just for fun. I certainly hate
\nthe action and condemn the hunters. They must know that their
\nbehavior is threatening the existence of the birds. Birds are a
\nnatural asset.<\/p>\n
I think it is time the Bandung authorities take action against
\nthe illegal hunters before it's too late. A regulation should be
\nestablished to protect the birds from irresponsible killing.<\/p>\n
If the birds are left alone they will serve as an attraction
\nto the people in Bandung and visitors alike. If we look at the
\nCity Hall, we will see a lot of birds there which are
\nentertaining. The birds that flock in the green trees will surely
\ntake Bandung back to its past charm.<\/p>\n
