Leapmotor has unveiled a new Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) 3.0 battery technology designed to eliminate the need for separate 12V batteries in electric vehicles. The innovation aims to streamline vehicle architecture and significantly increase power delivery efficiency for low-voltage components.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Leapmotor has introduced a new breakthrough in
electric vehicle (EV) electrical systems, providing a solution to the
ongoing requirement for additional 12V batteries, which remain a vital
component in modern EVs.

Arena EV reported on Sunday (20/9) that this technology was
introduced during the Tech Day 2/026 event in Huzhou, China, through the
Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) 3.0 High-Low Fusion Battery system, which is part
of Leapmotor’s latest architectural development.

To date, electric vehicles have utilised high-voltage batteries to
power the motor, yet they still require a 12V battery to supply
electricity to various low-voltage devices. Components such as sensors,
ECUs, infotainment systems, lights, wipers, and vehicle safety systems
still rely on this supply.

The company claims that the power delivery capability for low-voltage
systems has increased up to seven times compared to the previous
generation.

With this approach, Leapmotor states that the additional 12V battery
can be eliminated, allowing the vehicle’s electrical system to operate
using a more integrated battery architecture.

In addition to the electrical system, Leapmotor also introduced the
LEAP 5.0 New Mobile Space Architecture, which will be implemented in
production vehicles starting from 2027.

This architecture integrates the heating and air-conditioning systems
with the powertrain, allowing the number of components to be reduced by
up to 18 per cent and the fluid pipe network to be cut by 30 per
cent.

This efficiency also expands cabin space. Leapmotor claims that the
usable cabin length has increased by 19 per cent, while a new front
suspension design provides an additional 37.5 per cent of legroom.
",
