Leaflets on Islamic state<\/p>\n
TEMANGGUNG, Central Java: The authorities are tracking down
\npeople who circulated anonymous leaflets urging local Moslems to
\njoin forces and turn Indonesia into an Islamic state.<\/p>\n
The inflammatory leaflets also discredit the Armed Forces
\nbecause it is not sympathetic to their cause.<\/p>\n
\"We are coordinating with related agencies to investigate the
\ncase and chase people making and circulating the pamphlets,\"
\nTemanggung alert center chief Maj. Kasrofi told reporters
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
According to official statistics, almost 90 percent of
\nIndonesia's 200 million people are Moslems. But attempts to turn
\nthe country into an Islamic state is considered subversion and
\nliable to capital punishment.<\/p>\n
Regent Sardjono said that in the past, Temanggung was a
\nstronghold of Usroh, an organization that sought to make
\nIndonesia an Islamic state.<\/p>\n
Its leaders were detained and many of them fled, possibly to a
\nthird country, he said. \"Perhaps they are waging a clandestine
