For the sixth time, PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk\n(Sido Muncul) has received the 2025 PROPER Gold award from the Ministry\nof Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Sido Muncul previously achieved this\nPROPER Gold in 2020 to 2024.<\/p>\n
Even more proudly, in the same year, Sido Muncul Director Irwan\nHidayat has again received the 2025 Green Leadership PROPER award. This\nmarks the fourth consecutive time.<\/p>\n
The two awards were presented directly by the Minister of Environment\nand Forestry\/Head of the Environmental Pollution Control Agency (BPLH)\nHanif Faisol Nurofiq, accompanied by Chairman of Commission XII of the\nHouse of Representatives Bambang Patijaya, Chairman of the PROPER\nAdvisory Board Prof Sudharto P. Hadi, and Deputy for Pollution and\nEnvironmental Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment Rasio Ridho\nSani, at the PROPER Environmental Awards ceremony held at the Sasono\nLangen Budoyo Building, TMII, on Tuesday (7\/4).<\/p>\n
After receiving the awards, Irwan stated that the main goal of all\nthese achievements is to build trust. \u201cAs a company, what we need most\nis the trust of the public. And protecting the environment is one way we\nbuild that trust,\u201d Irwan told reporters.<\/p>\n
According to him, protecting the environment is a concrete step to\nensure product quality for consumers. \u201cIf we can do good to the\nenvironment, then to consumers we should be able to do much better,\u201d he\nemphasised.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has become our daily life. We must continue to protect the\nenvironment and ensure that what we do today does not damage the future\nenvironment,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
NOT INSTANTANEOUS<\/p>\n
Sido Muncul\u2019s Environment Manager, Amri Cahyono, added that achieving\nPROPER Gold is not something attained instantaneously. PROPER Gold, he\nadded, requires the company to implement various innovative steps that\nhave a real impact on the environment and society. One of the main\nstrategies is introducing eco-innovations across various operational\nlines.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we do is eco-innovation in various aspects. One of them is the\nuse of new renewable energy. Currently, more than 90% of our energy is\nrenewable, which can reduce carbon emissions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The company, he added, also focuses on efficiency in using other\nresources. \u201cWe also carry out efficiency in water usage, processing of\nhazardous waste (B3), and reduction of B3 waste itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sido Muncul\u2019s commitment is also extended through the Smartani\n(Sentra Mandiri Agro Ternak dan Inovasi) community empowerment programme\nrun in Semarang Regency, Central Java, an area facing challenges of land\nuse conversion and declining interest from the younger generation in the\nfood sector.<\/p>\n
The Smartani programme is an upstream-downstream empowerment\ninitiative (since 2021) that focuses on assisting farmers\/livestock\nbreeders in Semarang to improve the quality of medicinal raw\nmaterials.<\/p>\n
PROPER GOLD<\/p>\n
This year, the Ministry of Environment awarded the Green Leadership\nPROPER to nine company leaders and the PROPER Gold to 39 companies,\nwhile 243 companies received the PROPER Green award.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year\u2019s PROPER implementation is somewhat different from\nprevious years. In previous years, PROPER was fully carried out by the\nMinistry of Environment at that time. So this year and in the coming\nyears, PROPER will be carried out as a mandate or basis from Article 70\nregarding our obligation to supervise environmental management in all\nbusiness units across the country,\u201d said Minister Hanif.<\/p>\n
Hanif emphasised that the PROPER event is an important momentum in\nmeasuring the business world\u2019s contribution to the environment. Every\ncompany, said Hanif, is required to have strict environmental documents\nand report them periodically every six months. From those reports,\ncompliance levels are evaluated. \u201cThe blue ranking is not easy. It shows\nserious compliance with environmental documents. Meanwhile, those who\nachieve gold, this is an extraordinary pride,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In this awarding event, there were 243 companies receiving the PROPER\nGreen award, nine company leaders receiving Green Leadership PROPER, and\n39 companies receiving the PROPER Gold award.<\/p>\n
